The Sail-In Hotel Logo Design
In 2017 a client reached out to me to design a logo for her hotel project. At this point I've learned there are certain questions you need to ask in order to properly design a logo or series of logos for certain applications. I asked her questions such as where will this logo go? Who are the target audience? I also tried to get her say specific words or phrases that I could use as inspiration for my research and sketches. She told me she needs the logo to fit on social media such as an Instagram profile photo, Facebook profile photo and Facebook banner photo. So I new
As always, I started with a word map to draw out key words to draw inspiration for my sketching process. Along the way of coming up with key words that associated with the hotel brand I reached out to the client to tell me why she chose a nautical theme for the hotel. I as trying bring more specific key words about the background of her brand's message. She told me the nautical theme is based on a carbean holiday called Regattas Festival
Sketches & Logo Development
Knowing that I had to make sure I designed a logo to fit different shapes I played with abbreviations of The Sail-in Hotel (SH) with a nautical icon. Once I am either stuck or comfortable with the amount of sketches I come up with I show the client what I've done and walk them through the process giving them a story. So after I showed the client what I've done she chose a few that she liked and I went in to the digital process of making some iterations in illustrator. I went back to the client and showed her what I've done and what I think will work best for her target audience. Once she chose a logo she really liked I played around with colors and once she was happy with the color version I made the logos to fit for Instagram, Facebook, and Facebook banner.
